The expressway is open. Sarkhej to Adhelai in 109 km, and Bhavnagar is 25 km further.

The Prime Minister inaugurated the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway on 31 March 2026. It runs 109 km from the Sardar Patel Ring Road near Sarkhej to Adhelai in Bhavnagar district, through the Dholera SIR. Four lanes, expandable to eight, access-controlled, built by NHAI in four packages at a civil cost of about ₹3,196 crore excluding land.

What it does to the clock

• Ahmedabad to Dholera: about 45 minutes, down from two hours.
• Ahmedabad to Bhavnagar: roughly two hours, down from four to five on the old route via Dhandhuka. Motorists using the road ahead of the formal opening reported 2 to 2.5 hours.
• Distance Ahmedabad–Bhavnagar by this route: about 138 to 141 km.

The Bhavnagar leg

From Adhelai the traffic continues on NH 751, the Nari–Adhelai four-lane, a cement-concrete road built at ₹820 crore that passes Sanes, Narbad and Kala Talav on its way into the city. A toll notification for the NH 751 and NE-8 stretches was issued in May 2025, with a plaza near Bhadbhid village. Ocean Industrial Park fronts this road, 24.6 km south of Adhelai.

For a truck leaving the park, the sequence is now: highway at the gate, expressway in twenty minutes, Ahmedabad’s ring road in about ninety. That is a different business from the one the same plot supported in 2024.

Inside the SIR, or beside it

The expressway makes Dholera reachable, which raises the question every buyer on this corridor faces: land inside the SIR, or land on the same road outside it? Inside, you buy bulk parcels zoned under TP schemes, priced for developers, with a city still being built around them. Beside it, at Kala Talav, you buy revenue land with a city of six lakh people, a rail terminus, an airport and a port within twenty kilometres.
